According The Atlantic Magazine, last week, the Trump´s transition team sent a four-page questionnaire to the State Department about America’s relationship with Africa, on topics ranging from terrorism to humanitarianism. Several questions indicated “an overall skepticism about the value of foreign aid”. Trump´s transition team asked if the investment in AIDS Programs in Africa are really necessary when Africa has so many security concerns.
The President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), created back in 2003 by George W. Bush, has increased the access of antiretroviral drugs and prevented babies from being borned with HIV in the targed countries. Besides that, it also helped the control of other deseases, like malaria and tuberculosis.
