Antiretroviral medicines reached a critical situation in Venezuela

“June is getting to a severe situation and lightens the red light”, recognized the leader of the Programa Nacional de SIDA, of Health Ministry, doctor Deisy Matos, about the shortage of antiretroviral medication happening in Venezuela, main topic during a reunion summoned by The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, with the assistance of agents from Civil Society’s Organizations that work with AIDS.

She informed that the Health Ministry bought from the Pan American Health Organization’s Strategic Drug Fund (PAHO) a significant amount of antiretroviral, manly the ones that are lacking and common among people living with HIV. Matos said that this is the only option to buy these medicines for Venezuela.
